Precious Life is a Christian, non-denominational, non–governmental, non–political, non–profit organization located in Kenya and Tanzania, East Africa with its headquarters in Spokane, Washington.

Who we are!

We are - An extended hand of 'HOPE'

Precious Life International is a Washington State registered organization working to meet the needs of the Maasai people of Kenya and Tanzania, East Africa through development projects and spiritual ministries. Our top priority is to bring the "Hope" of education ? especially to the Maasai under aged girls who must deal with difficult obstacles that prevent them from receiving an education.

Rooted deep in their traditions, the Maasai people see the need of education, a tool that will help them fight one of their greatest enemies - Poverty.

Concerning the girls
To help vulnerable girls of the Maasai tribe to have the same choices in life as boys! Giving them equal opportunities for education will enable them to decide what is best for themselves and for their communities.

Concerning the community
To build, equip and empower the community to face their daily challenges through education, and provide opportunities that will provoke the Maasai people to make wise and profitable decisions.

Our Philosophy
In Precious Life, we believe that all people are equal, regardless of their geographical setting, and should be given an opportunity to achieve their God-given purpose. Food, education, clean water and health are basic human rights that no one should ever be without.

Our Founder:

Stephen Kaputa
Stephen Kaputa is a native Maasai Kenyan from East Africa. He is the founder and the president of Precious Life International, a non-profit agency in Spokane Washington. Precious Life was founded in 2000 and registered in October of 2001. Steve is a graduate of Destiny Ministry Training Center where he studied leadership skills in order to fulfill his dream of helping and making a difference for his people - the Maasai. He is very knowledgeable about his culture and the challenges facing his community today.

Before coming to the United States, Steve worked with Special Ministries in Kenya helping orphans and poverty stricken families and children. He later joined Kenya Broadcasting Corporation where he became an actor in a soap opera. He also participated in a radio drama weekly program (Radio Theater). Steve has been acting for many years. He traveled with his television group to almost every district in Kenya, performing live shows.

In 2000, he founded Precious Life International. We are dedicated to ending the practice of female genital mutilation among the Maasai people and providing equal opportunity for female education. We are also helping the Maasai community to become self sufficient by initiating self help projects and teaching them the business of selling their bead work and crafts to a world market.
